Allison Cara Tolman (born April 2nd 1984) was an American actor from the United States. Her character, Molly Solverson, in season one of FX's Fargo the television show, earned her nominations for Emmy and Golden Globe. Tolman had two older siblings and one younger. When she was only few months old, her family moved to England and stayed there for 4 years. Then she lived in Oklahoma for 5 years, and after that, West Texas before moving to Sugar Land. Baylor University awarded her a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in theatre performance. After graduation, she lived in Dallas and was a founder of Second Thought Theatre. The actress moved into Chicago in 2009 to study at The Second City Training Center for a course in acting. Tolman made her debut on Fargo, a black-comedy crime drama on FX. Fargo is a movie starring veteran actors Billy Bob Thornton Martin Freeman Bob Odenkirk. The movie was inspired by the Coen brothers' film of identical title. Tolman's performance in the role of Minnesota police officer Molly Solverson was praised by Vanity Fair, who wrote: "She calmly and confidently stole the whole production". Critics' Choice Television Award Best Supporting Actress in a Movie/Miniseries. Nominations in Best Actress categories at Emmy Awards, Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Television Awards. Tolman was given a two episode guest role as romance novelist Abby Berman on The Mindy Program the same year. In 2015, she played a supporting character in Michael Dougherty's comedy-horror film Krampus. Tolman declined roles in supporting characters like best friends, spouses, and mothers after her breakthrough role on Fargo. She was looking for a unique role. In the year 2017, Tolman starred in ABC's Downward Dog, based on the Animal Media Group web series which was cancelled after one season. Tolman played in ABC's Emergence drama, which debuted on the 24th of September, 2019, however it was cancelled by ABC after one year on 21 May 2020, despite Tolman posting on Twitter that the show's ratings were "pretty acceptable". She was also a guest star on NBC's Good Girls. In 2021 she played Alma Filcott in season two of Why Women Kill. Natalie Green appeared in Live in Front of a Studio Audience 3.
